In 1950 the Vogue Doll Company created a new version of the Ginny Doll. She looked just the same as the painted eye mold, but she now had eyes that could open and close. These dolls are known as the Sleep Eye Ginnys and are some of the most desirable today. The earliest of these dolls produced in 1950-1951 were called Transition Ginnys. They had very pale faces and very light lip color. There were also variations in the eyes. One might see a doll with very dark almost black solid eyes, or one with two distinct colors of brown and blue, or one with "root beer" eyes. These "root beer" eyes appear almost pinky brown from the color blending into the white area of the eye. The early dolls came with either mohair wigs or the new Nutex that could washed and styled. Since the Transition Ginny was only produced for a short time, they are hard to find and to find one with a mint mohair wig is even a more difficult task.
